Brsk connects first customer in Keighley to their full-fibre broadband
[15/10/2021] Keighley, West Yorkshire - New broadband provider brsk (pronounced brisk) has successfully connected their first customer to their 1 gigabit full-fibre broadband service.
Upgrading to gigabit broadband by installing new fibre optic cables to connect homes, will allow customers in Keighley to stream 4k media across multiple devices at the same time, while members of the same household can browse, take video calls and play games without impacting anyone else’s online experience.
Brsk Community Manager, Mohammed Amran said:
“We are incredibly proud of our people and teams that are improving people's lives by installing our brand new full fibre network. We understand the transformative impact that our reliable and high speed broadband has on every home we service, so we are delighted to have connected Mr Howard Flett, our first customer in Keighley, to full-fibre broadband.”
Delighted to be connected, brsk’s first customer Howard Flett said:
“I’ve been really excited while waiting for brsk to come along. I’ve been using Virgin Media because there’s basically been no alternative until now, but their 18-month contracts are restrictive and ridiculously expensive; brsk just looks like a much better deal. I’ve been eagerly watching them building up the street and I appear to be the first one in Keighley. It’s pretty cool...here’s to giving it a go!”.
Howard Flett might be the first, but Brsk says the investment will deliver full-fibre broadband to over 25,000 homes and businesses covering all of Keighley, including Utley, Braithwaite, Oakworth, Long Lee, Ingrow, Exley Head and Thwaites.
As part of their launch special to customers who sign up early, brsk is offering residents the opportunity to experience 1 gigabit per second broadband for free, for six months with no obligation or commitment. After the six-month trial period, customers can choose one of three packages on offer - 100mbps service is £33, its 500mbps at £39 and 1 gigabit at £49.
Full-fibre uses fibre-optic cables to deliver broadband services to premises (Fibre to the Premises, FTTP), providing faster speeds and more reliable service than copper-based networks (Fibre to the Cabinet, FTTC). FTTP Networks like these boost local economies by providing jobs, making property more saleable and enabling a much more attractive base for businesses and home workers alike.
Brsk customers are already using the network in Bingley, where the new broadband provider has connected their first customers. “Installation was very professional, completed by a really nice crew. To date, service has been 100%, good and consistent speeds” says one via Trustpilot. Another commented “An excellent service! I now have broadband speeds I only dreamed of. A service I would highly recommend.”
Brsk will soon be adding a voice phone service (which uses your internet connection to make calls, like calls on WhatsApp or FaceTime). This means you can keep your current landline number and move away from your old and unreliable copper line.
Customers who want to try out the gigabit-capable broadband service for free for six months can check their coverage at https//www.brsk.co.uk and either sign up as part of the launch special, or register their interest for updates for the rollout to their area.
