Brsk unleashes 2Gbps full fibre broadband for homes
1 October 2024 marks the official launch of BetterNet2000 home broadband, which offers upload and download speeds of 2Gbps (or 2000Mbps). Yes, it’s unbelievably quick, and it’s designed for those we call ‘power users’ who require a plethora of data-hungry devices to be connected simultaneously.
The product also includes some exclusive kit - the all new TP-Link EX820v AX6000 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 VoIP Router. This offers the Wi-Fi speed, capacity and low latency needed to enjoy a 2Gbps connection. 4K and 8K streaming, AR/VR applications, enhances online gaming and unbelievably quick uploads and downloads - it’s all catered for.
BetterNet2000 customers also have the option of taking up the BetterWiFi add-on (at £10pm), which will add TP-Link HX710 Pro mesh access points, ensuring broader Wi-Fi signal.
BetterNet2000 trials started in September, with a selection of existing brsk customers and the feedback has been extremely positive. One of the trial participants has said that the change from their previous package has been "dramatic, as someone who has over 40 devices on their network, it means more devices are able to use the connection, especially those using wired as not every device is now fighting for bandwidth, and instead now has twice the room to send and receive packets."
Head of Networks at brsk, Jody Botham, says, "While no wireless system is perfect, we understand that it is key to our customers’ experience when using our broadband products, and so for the 2Gbps product it was really important for us to make sure we selected equipment that can deliver the performance to make the most of this product. We’ve made a significant investment in our CPE testing platform, which has allowed us to validate the functionality and benchmark the performance of a number of vendors’ CPE models, that on paper should have very similar performance, whereas in reality we saw some big differences. We selected the TP-Link devices based on their superior performance. As a partner, they’ve been very supportive throughout this process and we’re looking forward to working with them over the coming months and years."
BetterNet2000 is available to new customers now at £55pm on a 24-month contract and £65pm on a month-to-month plan.
Existing customers have the option to upgrade to BetterNet2000, via the brsk customer portal (subject to a new contract term).
Speeds stated are best experienced on a single device with a wired connection, but may be less over Wi-Fi.
